Rize gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Israelian artist Igor Skaletsky at the gallery.

Born in 1978 in Russia, this young freelance illustrator has travelled in the hot spots of contemporary art, including Israel and Germany, to find his own visual identity. The result of this initiatory trip is a unique technique, combining digital photomontage with acrylic paint and varnish. Skaletsky does have what it takes to be a collage master. Skaletsky’s pleasure is to collide Early Dutch painters and Italian Renaissance masters with trendy supermodels and icons of the tattoo culture. Skaletsky plays the clash of cultures and iconography.

Skaletsky says: "Collage is for me a technique that expands my ability to express myself. I think the photography and painting are perfectly complementary. They achieve a result that would be impossible with purely traditional painting.  Collage is unique in its ability to combine organically items that are believed initially incompatible time without real artistic value.  I like it when pieces of paper insulated begin to "play" with each other when I put them in the common area of the collage.”

The tension of the frozen postures coupled with the contrast between light and dark gives a melancholic atmosphere to his art works. It reminds of the artistic movement ‘Romanticism’. With the use of religion symbols and modern elements Igor refers to political and religion issues and arise from the sublimation and interpretation of that what Igor observes and discover around him.

A real modern religious iconography, displaying saints and sinners, écorchés and fashion animals. The kind of universe where art lovers wish to do a pilgrimage.

The works in this exhibition are in conversation with the Dutch Glass artist artist Barbara Nanning.
